Oh, where to begin with Lizz and Devon’s wedding day! I just love these two as a couple; they both have their quiet moments but when the time is right, erupt into bouts of laughter, sarcasm, and joy. When you put them together, they seem to melt into one another like they were made to be together. Lizz and Devon didn’t see each other before the ceremony, but before she walked down the aisle, Lizz shared the sweetest first look with her dad. There were tears all around, and set the perfect tone for how the day would be… energetic, sentimental, and filled with laughter. Lizz wore jewelry belonging to her mother and grandmothers, and the diamond in her engagement ring originally belonged to Devon’s great grandmother. It was such a beautiful tribute to love and to family.

We spent most of the portrait time dodging scattered thunderstorms; thankfully the perfect location was only about twenty feet from the covered patio, and the intermittent rain kept the summer heat at bay! Lizz and Devon’s bridal party were the sweetest, and made what could have been a hectic day easy and fun. Despite the threatening rain, we decided to have the ceremony outside under a backdrop of rolling grey clouds and rumbling thunder. Lizz and Devon said “I do,” and the moment they and the bridal party had recessed and were under the cover of the patio, the heavens opened and the rest of the guests rushed for cover. Thankfully there were a handful of umbrellas available! As an experienced camp director, the officiant joked that he was a pro at predicting thunderstorms, and he timed it perfectly.

One of my favorite moments of the day was Lizz and Devon’s first dance. Lizz is a trained ballroom dancer, and she & Devon learned an entire choreographed piece (complete with lifts and spins) to the delight of all the guests. It was incredible!!! They danced the night away with their friends and family to country line dances that I had never seen but now wish that I knew how to do 😉 SO much fun!! Devon’s parents won the anniversary dance, Lizz’s dad showed a slideshow filled with photos of the bride and groom from their childhood to present day. I loved every moment!
