Modern Wedding Inspiration with pops of Blue | Swan Lake Event Center

Swan Lake Event Center is a stunning wedding and event venue just north of Columbus that celebrated their grand opening just a few months ago! Their expansive grounds feature a gorgeous lake, huge trees, and rolling gravel paths with exquisite landscaping. The venue itself is modern and clean, yet somehow feels classic at the same time. I first met their awesome event staff (Sarah and Olivia!) when we invited them on the Columbus Wedding Podcast, and from that point I knew I wanted to do a shoot there!

A style shoot is only as good as its vendors, and I had some of the BEST on my team for this one! The floral team at Petals & Leaves created a unique, modern garland and ceremony backdrop of dyed blue plumosa, which we affectionately dubbed “bluery” (pronounced BLUE-er-y) that became central to the shoot. The modern dresses provided by the Bride Babe from Heidi Elnora’s Build-A-Bride line (including one brand new design!) tied in perfectly. Throw in a soft, romantic stationery set (created by Birdhaus Co.) to add a touch of elegance, and we were in business!

I’m so happy with how everything turned out, and am so thankful for all of the vendors who contributed! Leave them some love in the comments, and if you’re a bride getting married soon and you LOVE what you see in this shoot… these are your people!

I absolutely LOVED these next portraits with Julia and Matt! We started with the bluery at one of Swan Lake’s FIVE outdoor ceremony locations, and then moved into portraits around the grounds.

We created two reception tables, one with the bluery and one with a more simple layout. The gold chargers and flatware added the perfect accent to this warm, neutral palette broken up by the pops of blue!

Finally, we relocated the bluery to the back patio at Swan Lake for some dreamy golden hour portraits! Chloe and Jacob looked stunning and the light was incredible. It was the perfect way to end the day!
