Mini-Vacation [Hocking Hills, OH]

A few weekends ago, Josh and I loaded the pups into the car and took a spontaneous mini-vacation to a cabin in the beautiful mountainous woodland known as Hocking Hills. We’ve lived in the Columbus area for over a year now, but hadn’t had a chance to make the hour trip and experience the mountains, waterfalls, and caves that Hocking Hills has to offer. I have to say, the trip WAY exceeded my expectations. You don’t even feel like you’re in Ohio anymore – the roads are winding, the trees are tall, and there are plenty of hills. Take that, all you Midwest haters.

Other than a few snapshots courtesy of my iPhone, I didn’t take any pictures of the waterfalls or caves we hiked to. Climbing rocks with two easily excited dogs was a daunting enough task that I didn’t want to have the extra hassle of carrying a camera bag. BUT, that’s not to say I didn’t get to take any pictures. Here are a few shots of the woods next to our cabin in the early morning, and some of the cabin itself.

Needless to say, Josh and I will DEFINITELY be going back sometime. It’s only an hour’s drive away, but you feel like you’re in another world. Next time though, we may even take some friends. It’s the kind of magic you want to share 🙂
