Hope Taylor Workshop Experience

October #HTPworkshop Recap

If you follow me on Instagram, you may have noticed that my feed was flooded last Monday with images tagged with #htpworkshop! If you don’t follow Hope Taylor Photography, stop what you’re doing and go follow her right now!! Hope is an incredible photographer with not only amazing talent, but a passionate and bubbly spirit to match. She runs a thriving business that she started only about three years ago in high school, and has already catapulted to be a leader in the industry! It’s incredible!

I decided to go to Hope Taylor’s workshop for two reasons… one, it was a good excuse to head down to Virginia to visit my family! But secondly, Hope specializes in photographing weddings and high school seniors, the exact two areas I want to build and specialize in! It was a perfect fit, and it ended up being so worth the investment. I have a notebook FULL of notes that I still need to re-read and implement, but a few tips I picked up I’ve already used and noticed a huge difference!

The day started in Hope’s adorable little studio in downtown Fredericksburg. We chatted over donuts and then dove into the education part of the day! We talked through client experience, marketing, social media, senior rep programs, branding, and all the business-y stuff that you have to know to run your own business legally and successfully! My favorite aspect about this entire day was that some of the girls attending have been full-time photographers for a while, while others are literally just starting their business right now. There was such a great mix, but we all bonded so well and supported one another!

After a catered Chick-fil-a lunch (can I hear a YASSSSS for chicken nuggets?!?!?), we went through a little more education and then headed across the street to the styled shoot hosted by Kat from Dear Sweetheart Events! Kat is another amazing human and top-notch wedding planner and stylist, and this shoot was no exception! The entire space was decked out in everything FALL– plaid, sweaters, pumpkins, apple cider donuts, and cozy blankets. Four of Hope’s senior spokesmodels were there, fully decked out in wardrobe, hair, and makeup, and we had so much fun hanging out with them and shooting stunning portraits of these gorgeous ladies! We also had time to explore downtown Fredericksburg while Hope shot images of the styled shoot by herself, and found the cutest little coffee shop (with the BEST maple apple cider!!!) and even shot head shots for each other around town.

We wrapped up the day over GIANT slices of pizza and a Q&A time. I loved connecting with these amazing ladies, and a HUGE thank you to Hope for pouring all her knowledge and practices into growing photographers!! I know she has a lot more educational goodies up her sleeve, so if you’re a photographer and love shooting weddings and seniors, follow along with her to see what’s coming next!

This is that coffee shop I mentioned! How cute is it!!!
