From the top floor of the Joseph in downtown Columbus, we watched through the sprawling windows as dark storm clouds rolled across the sky, getting closer and closer. But inside the bridal suite, excitement and anticipation hung in the air. Hair and makeup applied to perfection, champagne poured and shared, smiles absolutely everywhere. With the help of her mom, Morgan put on her show-stopping Rita Vinieris gown and we waited for the rain to stop.
But it didn’t stop. Not for a long while.
So we pivoted… and the results were breathtaking.
A first look with private vows in the private upstairs lobby of the Joseph. A quick stop at North 4th Corridor for bride & groom portraits on the sleek bar at Revery. And then a lightning round (pun intended) of wedding party & couples portraits on the steps of the Ohio Statehouse before the heavens opened up again. It was raining when we arrived at the church for their wedding, but no problem. We were ready, and no amount of rain could dampen their spirits.
I tell couples all the time that no wedding day is perfect. Things happen completely out of our control, and it’s to be expected, and even embraced… because the most beautiful stories flourish out of adversity and spontaneity. Life and marriage happens the same way, and what a beautiful picture to witness. Morgan and Christopher’s wedding day was beautiful in every way, because their love isn’t based on perfect conditions. Their love is based on trust, shared admiration, and a genuine joy in one another.
These photos tell their story.
