Happy Leap Day!

Happy Leap Day!!! It’s been a wild ride of a weekend and today has honestly been just as crazy! There are so many wonderful things happening that it really feels like I’m on a roller coaster, and no one loves roller coasters more than me! My friend Missy and I were comparing the color-coded awesomeness that has overwhelmed our calendars and I think she said it best…

“Like, I have a HUGE to do list right now, but guess what, I’m not even stressed about it. I’m overjoyed about it.”

I’m right there! I’m taking everything one step at a time, and the excitement just keeps building and as soon as I check something off the list, it’s quickly replaced by something else. Starting this month I’ll be teaching a small group at church as well as creating all the print/web media and maintaining our new church website! And all that will be in addition to all the work I already do for Michelle Joy Photography and Josh Staley Productions! There are moments when I hesitate and wonder if I’ll be able to handle it, but every piece of pie that’s sitting on my plate has fallen into place so perfectly that I truly believe the Lord put it there. God’s Word teaches that we can do all things through Christ, and if all this is in His will and His timing, He will provide the time and strength to accomplish each task with grace and excellence.

So. If things get crazy, you know why. But I couldn’t be more excited. 🙂

Finally, it wouldn’t be a Leap Day post if I didn’t give a shoutout to my favorite Leap Day birthday girl, affectionately known as Mama! She’s not my biological mama, but her daughter Katie and I were best friends all throughout our middle and high school years and I spent many, many nights at her house. We used to joke that Katie was older than her mom because Katie had technically had more birthdays! Thanks Leap Year for that crazy situation! Anyway, Mama has been there for the good, the bad, the pool parties, and the braces. She’s seen the crazy, the cramming for finals, the college decisions. She even drove all the way from Virginia to Ohio to attend my wedding. And next month, I’ll be driving from Ohio to Virginia to attend and photograph HER wedding! Over the past fifteen years, I’ve witnessed Mama walk through fire and she’s come out beautiful, refined, and unbelievably strong. She’s been there through thick and thin and is truly an amazing and powerful woman. And in just under three weeks, she’ll be standing beside a wonderful man ready to become his wife. I can’t wait!!!

Happy Leap Day everyone, and Happy Birthday Mama!!! I love you and can’t wait to see you in just a few short weeks. 🙂
