One Thing Most Brides Don’t Think Of

Monday Tips for Brides: Part One

I come across this at almost every wedding, so I can’t believe I’ve never written a blog post about this before! The getting ready portion of the day goes smoothly, filled with curling irons, hairspray, and laughter. The bride puts on her dress, jewelry, and beautiful high heels… and as soon as she walks onto the grass to start portraits, one of two things usually happens:

1. The shoes aren’t quite as comfortable as she thought, so instead of spending her bride and groom portraits enjoying romantic moments with her groom, she’s thinking about the blister forming on her left pinky toe.

2. Her heels sink into the grass and leave her gorgeous wedding heels with a coating of dirt that can’t always be cleaned off before ceremony time.

The solution?

Bring a backup pair of shoes to wear during portraits!

Most weddings gowns completely cover your feet, so no one will know that you’re wearing flip flops or Toms instead of your Jimmy Choo heels! If your dress will be too long without your heels, I would recommend bringing a pair of comfortable wedges that are about the same heel height but will be easier on the ankles and won’t sink into soft terrain.

This is a great tip for bridesmaids too! Have each of your girls bring a pair of shoes to walk in, and if they’re in short or knee-length gowns, they can change into their wedding heels once they’ve reached the portrait location.

I’ll be posting a new tip for brides every Monday, so check back next week for part 2!
