Jacob and Megan stood back to back in the tall marble room, surrounded by beautiful paintings and bathed in soft sunlight streaming in the large window behind them. It was quiet, save the echoing laughter of museum guests browsing a few rooms over. Their wedding day was here…. finally!!! They hadn’t seen each other yet, but as they leaned against one other reading letters the other had written, the anticipation built, emotion expressed through tears and laughter. Finally, bouncing on her heels, Megan exclaimed, “I have to SEE you!!!” She gracefully glided a few steps away and turned to face her groom, the train of her long sleeved lace dress swishing behind her. Jacob turned around too, and in his eyes, you could see an infinite amount of love and admiration, joy and excitement. They laughed, hugged, he spun her around. He spun around too, to show off his black suit and cummerbund. They couldn’t stop smiling. And this joy and awe would continue throughout their entire day… from their portraits, through the ceremony, along to their reception. And their smiles never waned, never took a moment off. Their marriage deserved to be celebrated without reservation.
Megan and Jacob’s wedding was a special one for so many reasons… my last couple of 2018, a beautiful setting at the Dayton Art Institute, and their love is selfless, sacrificial, and full of joy. Not only that, but Megan and her parents attend the same church where Josh and I were married! Pastor Erik officiated both their ceremony and ours five years ago, and it was so special to see familiar faces and reconnect with them. Megan’s dad is also a professor at Cedarville, and he took Josh and I out to lunch after church (being the poor college students that we were) multiple times. I even spent Easter dinner at their home my senior year!
From the moment Megan’s inquiry appeared in my inbox, I knew that any guy special enough to marry a Haymond must be a pretty great guy… and I was right. Megan and Jacob are both overflowing with joy, and you feel their warmth the moment they walk into the room. They are adventurers, having met while studying abroad in Spain, and they both have dedicated their careers to helping others in the medical field. I could photograph their wedding over and over, and am SO excited to share their images in what could be my biggest blog post to date. Congratulations Megan and Jacob- you two are incredible and I’m so grateful to have captured your amazing day!!!
